UEMO, OMC, EJD and CONFEMEL present manifesto demanding protection for civilians and health workers in Gaza

On 5 September 2025 in Madrid, OMC, UEMO, EJD, and CONFEMEL presented a joint manifesto condemning breaches of International Humanitarian Law in Gaza, notably the use of starvation as a weapon and deliberate attacks on healthcare facilities and personnel. The organisations demanded immediate, unrestricted humanitarian corridors and special protection for children and other vulnerable civilians.

UEMO participated in the presentation; President, Dr. Tiago Villanueva, stated, “Attacking hospitals or preventing doctors from carrying out their duties constitutes a serious violation of the universal ethical principles of our profession.” The press conference also included a roundtable discussion on the situation of children in Gaza.
