Transatlantic Taskforce discuss fight against AMR

On 14 and 15 September, the Transatlantic Taskforce on Antimicrobial Resistance (TATFAR) will have its Conference, hosted by the European Commission, to strengthen partnerships in the fight against AMR. The meeting, to be held virtually will bring together over 250 representatives and facilitators from the EU, USA, Canada, Norway and the United Kingdom, along with the WHO, and other partners from academia, industry, and non-governmental organisations.

EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides will open the meeting, with formal addresses expected from senior officials from the USA, Norway and UK. Prof. Lothar Wieler, President of the German Robert Koch Institute and member of the AMR Global Leaders Group, will deliver a keynote address.

The agenda will cover:

• Progress of TATFAR and achievements in addressing AMR
• Endorsement of the new TATFAR work plan 2021-2026
• Discussion on the place of TATFAR in the landscape of international initiatives to combat AMR
