UEMO president and secretary general attend CEOM General Assembly in Madeira

Dr Tiago Villanueva, UEMO president, and Dr Catarina Matias, UEMO secretary general, attended the CEOM general assembly that took place on 10-11 October in Funchal, Madeira. Among other critical topics, the meeting promoted the use of a unified “European form to collect data on violence against doctors” thus encouraging the exchange of best practices to support doctors’ well-being and ensure the retention of the healthcare workforce. The participants also addressed the draft deontological guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence in medicine. While AI holds great promise for advancing healthcare, the guidelines emphasize that it should rather assist doctors, not replace them.
